UK’s ecommerce way ahead of other countries

Brits love online shopping, with more ecommerce consumers in the UK than any other country in the world, according to a new report.

The report by Ofcom also found that facilitating these online sales are devices such as iPhone and Blackberry smartphones, laptops and tablets – including the revolutionary iPad. Ofcom chief executive Ed Richards said: 'Across the globe people are embracing ecommerce and social media with enthusiasm. Our research shows that the UK communications market is performing well with prices, the range of services and innovation standing up well against international benchmarks.' As internet services continue to grow and improve, online shopping becomes easier and better value for many Brits – with the added benefit of products being delivered straight to you door – ecommerce websites make shopping easier. The study, which is now in its sixth international communications market report, found that the UK is far more likely to shop online than other developed countries across Europe, and ahead of the USA. It has also been predicted that ecommerce stores in the UK will see a further increase this year in those doing Christmas shopping online.
